Resetting Trusted Platform Module (TPM)

WIP WIP WIP

  1. UEFI install of Windows
    How to check
    1. Run msinfo32
    2. Look for entry called “BIOS Mode”. Should be a 14th line from the top.
  2. If you don't see “BIOS Mode UEFI” you will need to reinstall using UEFI mode. If you do have UEFI mode, continue below.

Warning: if you have bitlocker enabled, you need to disable it before proceeding, unless you like losing all your data. if you don't know what bitlocker is, you don't have it.

press the windows key + r and type tpm.msc if this opens normally, you should be able to clear the TPM and reboot and be done. It's not uncommon to get an error here if you have this problem.

if that didn't work do the following: open the start menu and type “device security”, then in the window select security processor details, then security processor troubleshooting, select clear TPM. you'll be prompted to restart, you might have to press a button to confirm on reboot, press it. after the restart it should be working correctly.
